Friday & River
Founded in 2011 and based in San Diego, California, Friday & River is a creative collaboration between husband and wife team, Joe Freitag and Yumi Kawamura. After over a decade of working together on creative projects, and working professionally in the design and media industry, we took our passion for creating meaningful and personal handmade gifts and launched Friday & River.
The name and icon of Friday & River tell the story of our collaboration – who we are, where we’ve been, and how those things shaped the soul and aesthetic of F&R.
Established in 2008, MILKMADE is a local select shop with an exceedingly international influence. A champion of independent brands & designers, MILKMADE houses a thoughtfully edited offering of apparel, footwear, accessories, and lifestyle publications.
Our store is on 3 levels, the ground floor and upper level are put together by our sister company Couverture.
Strictly independent we do not carry any clothing that has been bought up and sold out. All of our suppliers are like us. Fighting hard the monsters of the corporation, standing up for quality and better days.
In Spring 2008 Couverture relocated from its original site in Chelsea to the heart of Notting Hill. It re-opened as the concept store "Couverture & The Garbstore". Launching to critical acclaim with The Times voting it Cult Shop in 2008, the store is now firmly established as one of London's premier shopping destinations.
We launch new products and posts every week.
Everyday objects should be designed well and manufactured to last a long time. Materials should be chosen for functionality and durability. Most of our products are handmade, and we never sell cheaply made, mass produced versions. A well-made object can be passed down, and shouldn't have to be replaced, so there's one less thing in landfills.
The Goodhood Store opened its doors on a backstreet in Hoxton, Shoreditch in September 2007. Started as a self initiated, self funded project to curate some of the finest clothing collections and objects from around the world, it's initial purpose was to support like minded brands from around the world who shared our ideas of independence, exclusivity and quality.
Shortly there after came the webstore which has grown to becoming an industry leading website and along with the store carries some of the worlds most prestigious lines. An ongoing collaboration with R. Newbold started in 2008 and reaching into it's 4th year has been an integral part of defining the Goodhood Store aesthetic; each season a capsule collection is produced offering The Goodhoods Stores own take on the effortlessly style now synonymous with the store. In December 2010 the store expanded onto 2 floors so that dedicated space could be offered to both men and women.
Early 2011 saw the opening of a new studio space called The Goodhood Workshop housing our own offices as well as an exhibition space in conjunction with Galeries Goldsein (G.A.G), which plays host to new and thought provoking exhibitions as well as one off launches like the U.K launch of the Carhartt Heritage line. The Goodhood Store remains unique in it's brand identity, it's culture, it's level of service and as a space men and women can both find the best of a worldwide curated selection of goods.
